Ben Longden started photography at an early age. He had his first camera at six and was developing his own films by the age of nine.
He decided to turn professional in 1982 after the hobby was becoming busy. Since then he has evolved a news and documentary style that has seen him work in the print media for many years, notably as the chief photographer at the Parkes Champion Post, and Echuca’s Riverine Herald in addition to running a bureau for News Limited for 15 years in the Central West of NSW.
A cinematic feel to his work let inexorably to a move to motion pictures, and he has been working as a freelance camera operator for Nine News Melbourne and WIN News Victoria since 2003. In the past few months he has signed a freelance camera operator contract with Nine News Sydney.
